Dear Patients

What a great start to the year we have had at our practice. Firstly, I would like to extend a very warm welcome to Kai Kang, who has joined Tom, Maureen and I in the Ezekiel Eyes team. Kai is looking forward to providing you with excellent professional service.

Kai has an added aspect to his Bachelor of Optometry degree – he is therapeutically qualified. This means that Kai can write medical prescriptions for certain eye conditions. This is a great benefit for Ezekiel Eyes that will enable us to better look after you.

This past Easter I was invited to give two papers at the Australian Vision Conference on the Gold Coast. I was very privileged to be invited, and my two papers were about: 1. MGD (Meibomium Gladnd Dysfunction), a particular type of dry eye. We have been assessing our patients for MGD during consultations at Ezekiel Eyes. 2. RGP (Rigid Gas Permeable) contact lenses. At Ezekiel Eyes we fit and specialise in many types of contact lenses, but in particular we fit a lot of RGP contact lenses. These lenses are terrific for patients – their eye health and visual acuity is superior compared to patients wearing other contact lenses, and the RGP lenses are very easy to maintain.

Kai and I are more than happy to discuss any of your queries regarding the two papers I recently presented.

At the conclusion of the Australian Vision Conference I met up with five crazy Perth friends who also love to bushwalk and have adventures. Starting at Apollo Bay in Victoria, we trekked the Great Ocean Walk, which is nearby to the Great Ocean Road. Our trek took us to near Port Campbell, a distance of approximately 100km over five days. We had a great time – fresh air, amazing views, great walking and terrific company. What a fabulous break away from my dark room!

We look forward to seeing you soon for your eye health care check-up. All the best for you and your families during 2012.

Cheers

Damon.
